Lean Management
(3 days)
Lean is applicable in the Services sector as well as Manufacturing, and is applicable to the office as well as the shop-floor, and is the next wave of the future to tackle the unprecedented increase in competition particularly from low cost-based countries. It has been adopted in the aerospace industry and particularly in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) area. Through class room exercises you will learn how to deploy Lean, to 'see' waste and examine what others have done. You will learn the lean techniques, how to speed up turn-around time, improve quality and expand resource capacity without adding headcounts. This is a practical 'how-to' oriented workshop for all who are interested to make their organizations leaner.
- Learn Lean Principles and how to deploy Lean Thinking
- Learn the various forms of waste your employees should learn to 'see', eliminate the waste
- Selection of product/process families and the value streams
- Organizing your operation to meet the customer demand rate
- The use of buffer and safety resources or stock, finish goods supermarket strategy, organizing the workspace for better productivity
- The relationship between quality and turnaround time, the lean quality approach
- Making processes flow - its not just about time but also about distance, not only about how long a process takes but also how long you wait before it begins
- Implementing continuous flow, balancing work and work area design
- Maximizing use of equipment and overproduction, the benefits of Pull versus Push system
- FIFO processing, fixed length pipes, surfacing issues, reducing setup times and interruptions
- Learn techniques like signaling systems, immediate feedback and planned flexing
- Why level demand, leveling the mix, establishing an interval
- The use of visual management and why use immediate feedback
- Organize for the rapid projects
- Learn from what others have done. Case studies and exercises are used to surface concepts and lean applications throughout the workshop
