Value Stream Mapping
(2 days)
A crucial part of Lean Management is knowing how best to (1) select and map out current end-to-end value streams, (2) use lean tools and techniques to identify and surface the various improvement opportunities to make any value stream leaner and (3) 'attack' these improvement opportunities in terms of exactly what changes to make and how to go about making these changes using lean tools and techniques. The end result of value stream mapping (VSM) is the lean transformation blueprint and an implementation plan that identifies which areas to 'attack' for the next 3 to 6 months so that improvement efforts can be coordinated and focuses on where you need it to be
- Benefits of Value Stream Mapping
- How to map the Current State of an end-to-end value stream including the related information and material flows
- How to use lean guidelines to design faster and leaner Value Streams
- Involve the people who do the work to design the Future State Value Stream and get immediate buy-in
- How to develop the plan of action for the next 3 to 6 months to ensure a coordinated improvement effort is made
- Participants will go through a full case study exercise to learn and experience how to perform Value Stream Mapping.
